Earlier this year, London duo Alpines set off on their first extensive headline tour in the UK and Europe, and revealed a special live session of album track, ‘Motionless’. Their first ever extensive headline tour saw them heading up and down the nation before crossing the channel to play in Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin among others. Playing these cities for the first time gave the pair the chance to meet their continental fanbase, some of whom have supported since the early days. Check out the exclusive behind the scenes tour photos below.
We both love analogue photos and the joy you get from developing film, not knowing what photos are going to come out of the process! What is great with a disposable camera is that you don’t have to be too precious with it! Touring can be a bit frantic as you are constantly on the move, so it is easy to throw it in your bag and share around with other members of the band. It can become a communal item with everyone taking photos on it which is nice too. This also makes collecting the photos once they are developed even more enjoyable. As we took most of our photos on our phones, these photos are a more random assortment of shots from one of our first shows on our European tour in Leeds (the shot of us standing in the street) to our headline show in London (the crowd photo) and also our show supporting The xx at Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff (the sofa photo also featuring Anna from Metronomy).
In their latest sophomore LP, ‘Another River’, Alpines capture a breathlessly elegant and honest single vision. Their exemplary journey, which has seen the pair overcome some pretty tricky hurdles over the past few years, illustrates to young artists everywhere just what can be accomplished with an abundance of hard work, belief, and an uncompromising attitude.
