In May 2018, The Berlin Music Video Awards will be back with it’s 6th edition. With a Diverse selection of videos and a very wide spectrum of music genres almost anybody could feel home in this event. Since the very first edition, KALTBLUT was there for the jury panel (for the “Best Art Director” category). Through the years we could indicate a clear improvement of the produced music videos out there. Lately, we can also say that more and more production companies are giving a close attention to aesthetics, styling, make up and composition.

Aside the video, the live show and the other festivities, The Berlin Music Video Awards has the Glittering carpet tradition. Very similar to the red carpet that you could see in other film festivals just with the special Berlin spice and of course.. a fashion show integrated into it! Last year we witnessed some of our finest local designers arriving on a blue Mustang along with some great ones who came from abroad.
The international event brings the top of the music video industry to Berlin and it’s a great opportunity for fashion designers, set designers or Stylists to get connected and upgrade their game.
Around the world people refer the cozy event as the industry’s “spring break”. Among the past visitors you could meet face to face Leeroy Thornhill (Ex “The Prodigy” member) who came to give a DJ set, Megaforce who shot “Bitch better get my money” for Rihanna or Zoran Bihac who directed most of the Rammstein videos. The international networking event is rather accessible and much fun!
Although the event is growing each year, it is still faithful for it’s cozy mission. Last year’s event included a new category “Best Low Budget”, mostly for unknown artists with very great ideas. It was incredible to see the honor that top class creatives were giving to the beginners. In his interview, Dimitry Mouraview who won the final award said “I am not going to party tonight, I want to hurry up and grab as many visit cards as possible cause there are so many interesting people over here that I’d like to work with”.
The producer of the event, Aviel Silook says, “The film and fashion industries are both a very cold. It is important for me to bring something new, a welcoming networking event where everybody is accepted and equal. I grew up in a poor family with all the chances to fail. Just as i got my chance to shine, I’d like to offer many unknown talents out there the same chance”.
This year’s event will take place between the 23rd and 26th of May. For now, the call for submissions is still open and the final winner is expected to win 3000 Euros. More info on the Website: www.berlinmva.com
