ESMOD Berlin B.A. Graduation Show 2015! On Saturday, July 4th the whole buzz in the city was all about #ESMODIndependence. Berlin Internationale Kunsthochschule für Mode set up a big runway show for its graduates and invited Damir Doma and others to judge that all.
The event took place at historic location Vollgutlager and featured 25 best out of more than 60 graduating designers to show their pieces. About 500 industry professionals and press attended the party. We picked out most memorable moments of the night and suggest you to share that amazing experience with us.
If you are one of those, into Web Punk and 90s aesthetics, like we are, you definitely want to know Sia Arnika Bovbjerg Mortensen, the founder of PRCH. Oversized neoprene jackets and transparent polyurethane sport suits are must haves not just on the raves. Shady and depressed youth of last decade would find it a perfect match for there every day life full of nostalgia for rebel years of The Berlin Wall.
When Florian Luther’s models came out on the runway the whole thing reminded us of Prada Spring 2014 collection with those fancy colorful fur coats. However Florian perfectly reworked his inspiration adding some unexpected patterns and fabrics. Definitely worth to be seen… and worn.
The theme of embroidery, patchwork and flowers arises in fashion from time to time, and that doesn’t make Jessica Aponte’s collection less unique. Combining some folk motifs with modern cut she got a major result. The name of collection is «Melting Pot», which definitely reminds us of New York. Well, Jessica got the point.
Yara Skye Steffens is apparently an expert in working with shapes. Rough and strict cut is a way to go for strong personalities.
One of less fancy but most notable designers was Anna Swic. Sleek lines, simple fabrics blowed the minds out and carried our souls to the terra incognitas of the future. No surprise that she got the Prix Createur for the most outstanding collection issued by iconic Damir Doma himself.
Fashion is an ultimat rollercoaster. You never know what is gonna be trendy next season. But this is what design is all about! Every year new generation of designers graduate Esmod Berlin Internationale Kunsthochschule für Mode, having that exciting but tough responsibility to build a future of fashion. Kaltblut congratulates all 2015 alumni and wish you very happy holidays. By the way, don’t forget to work it this summer!
