No, just kidding. Welcome to KALTBLUT Collection 4. The North, Ice-Land, Myth, Legends and Nature. Our initial idea was to create an issue focused on Iceland, but then we got so many mails and work from artists based in Scandinavia as well as in Iceland, that we had to broaden the theme. Which was a good idea. We are proud to present you 404 pages filled with fashion, art, music and media from artists around the world playing with the theme. But why is the North so interesting? Let´s be honest: people from the North are the most creative creatures in this world. Is it because they live in a darker world than the people from the South? What do you do when you live most of the time in winter? You sleep or create art? The Scandinavian countries are dominating the pop music world. Nearly each artist works at least once with a producer from Sweden. The best music videos are done by filmmakers from the North. The fashion world would be super boring without the designers from Iceland and Scandinavia. Some of the most talented designers are coming from the North. I am a big fan of movies from the Nordic countries. They are always dark, especially criminal cinema is so sinister and well produced when it comes from there. Yet the most beautiful part of the North is nature. Endless forests, the Northern lights, proud animals. The infinite wild nature is inspiring for so many artists and it always will be. Come with us on a little trip. We wanna show you how creative the Nordic world is.

Working on Collection 4 has been the most difficult project in our history so far. Not because the artists were stressful.. NO, the hardest part this time was dealing with those PR and advertising people. Arghh.. please don´t waist our time if you don’t understand us. Please don´t order free copies of our magazine and then in the end you don´t even take a look inside? If we all worked with an attitude like yours there would be no magazine at all. And just for the record, just to make this one thing clear: we are not a gay magazine, we are not a straight magazine. We are here for everybody. We don´t mind if you are young, old, gay, lesbian, straight, tiny, black or white. In KALTBLUT every human being is more than welcome. We don’t like to squeeze people into boxes. So get over this, advertising world.. If not.. we don’t mind. KALTBLUT is and always will be open for everybody out there. No rules, no gender problems. It is 2013 wake up world! Have fun with our new Collection.

Editors Note:

It was and still is a long and intensive journey from an online magazine to a printed 400 pages magazine. Oh yes, I can tell you. Some years ago we had the idea of starting something different and we had no idea where this would lead us. The idea was to create a magazine without an “attitude”. A place were artists can jump out of their comfort zone. A magazine from the readers and artists for the readers and artists. None of our team members had a lot of experience in making a magazine. We had to learn a lot and we are still in the process. But we love what we are doing and we hope you will like our work too.

Iconical is the theme of this collection. Yeah I know. Nearly every magazine has done an issue with icons. These days we are surrounded with wanna be it girls and pop „Icons“. So we thought: YES!! It is a good idea to do a full collection around this theme. Specially because everybody did it. Let´s show the world what artists and our readers have in their minds around ICONS. We have invited more then 50 artists to play with the word ICONICAL. We are more than proud to present the result. Artists from all over the world have worked hard to create Collection 3. Three months of production. And we are so touched right now to see my „baby“ growing up. What is an icon to me? To be honest I think also about silly pop stars, or overrated movie stars. But after working on this issue I can say the real icons are all those people who helped me live our dream with the magazine. You guys are little heroes to us. The KALTBLUT team wants to say thanks to all the models, stylists, artists, writers, friends, flat mates, family, friends we lost during the working process, haters, supporters and everybody we forgot. You guys are real Icons for believing in a free spirit and an idea.

Hello friends, readers and haters!

Welcome to our second issue. Once again we have 400 pages full of art, fashion and media for you. The theme for this collection is Avant-garde. Yeah I know what you are thinking. Avant-garde? Arghhh. Yes I feel the same when I hear this word. Every artist, gallery and magazine has played at least once with this word. But let´s be honest: most of it is just insanely stupid stuff. I don´t understand why Avant-garde has to be always black and white, or very dark. So here at KALTBLUT, we had the idea to bring some color into the Avant-garde world. And let our readers decide what Avant-garde is to them.

If you google Avant-garde you will find as an explanation: Trendsetting. But what is trendsetting? Who decides what is a trend? We all know it is always some people with a weird attitude. Those people are sitting all day long in a petty office and they wanna tell you what to do, what to wear and who you are. We will never do this. KALTBLUT is a magazine from our readers for our readers. We’ll never even try to find any trends. Cause trends are already old 5 seconds later. You know life in general is Avant-garde. What ever you do. Every little step, every breath you take is changing the world. It is all in your mind. We are all Avantgardist. Enjoy our second collection.

KALTBLUT Magazine is the successor of HONK! Magazine, an  Onlinemagazine founded in 2010 in Berlin. HONK! has created international sensation from day one, also because of collaborations with Steed Lord, Bruce La Bruce, Rico Mahel (Ophus Kulturpreis 2011), Natalie Avelon, Walter Van Beirendonck and many others.

What is Kaltblut? KALTBLUT stands for a limitless symbiosis between art, photography, fashion and media. The theme of every issue works as a platform for artists to showcase their personal interpretation and point of view. By adopting this concept KALTBLUT hopes to break free from all traditional conventions and frames and allow an unhinged and borderless unfolding of creativity.

Marked by the Internet generation we have opted for an online magazine format, aiming at achieving the fastest and most global connection between artists and readers. In order to address our target group -the art interested cosmopolitan- in a propper way, our issues are released every 2 months in English. Our purpose is to create a thorough insight to every theme we go for, without pro and con and without falling victim to social restraints. We don’t care to condemn but to be an eye opening experience instead.
