The mixed-media project, titled after overlapping two different media, their influence on each other and the outcome of raw images. The idea behind the project is abstracting photographic realism with illustrations. As well as showing that something bold is considerable as art as any other uncreative real life drawing.

“At first, when photos have been looked at, apart from illustrations, they give a minimalistic sense. The photos consist of portraits and close-up shots of a young man, naked, mostly in front of a flat background with only a few objects being visible in the frame.”

“Furthermore, the illustrations appear like drawings from a child: Scribbles, doodles and figures that can be observed on daily basis, expressing emotions and imagination. Without having the perfect image in our mind or someone saying what it actually is supposed to look like. The bold design of the illustrations where the creative output is not judged. The innate place where we all have been when we were kids. The language that everyone in the world can understand.”

“Although the model looks alive and has a human form in the images, with the involvement of illustrations, he transforms into two dimensional paper elements seem to be drawn by kids and that allows the artist to change the image based on her desire. This contrast indicates the idea, that the reality in paintings or photography do not always translate the perfection. “
