London based multidisciplinary artist. Dimitra Petsa works mainly with and around narratives of the human body. She approaches her subjects with a strong direction to the erotic, how things feel and are made. She tries to capture the things that are inexplicable and translate them into something that we can see: visualized prayers to the invisible.
“These Illustrations are votive offerings to the sea. I am looking at the complex relationship of the sea and the human, what inspired people to believe in aquatic divinities. To do that I combined the aesthetic of fabric of wool with digital processes. I like the intimacy of the things that make you think of touch. And at the same time I am drawn to the immortality of something that is created digitally. And so this body of work came about, digital embroideries, to express my prayers to the sea. To see, to drink and to listen like the sea.”
