Alongside We Love That, KALTBLUT is excited to present Indie Femininity: an evening with the talented and upcoming Berlin-based O-SHiN (one half of Wolf & Moon), singer-songwriter Melis, and eclectic music maker Jinka. The evening will take place 4th December at Berlin’s Auster Club. Doors at 7pm.
In summer 2015, Amsterdam raised and Berlin-based singer-songwriter O-SHiN moved to a cabin in the Swedish countryside with five befriended musicians, producers and a video artist. This surrounding made its mark on the newborn project: the songs are produced only with organic, real instruments, many times exotic and alien but always with a natural depth to it.
Melis is a talented singer/songwriter, half Turkish and half Czech, who merges early folk roots with minimal electronica and organic pop elements, resulting in something beautifully melodic yet with a shining fragility. Previously of IYES, an electronic pop duo with acclaim from Pitchfork, The Guardian and more, Melis decided to go solo after moving to Berlin this year, which is a place she currently calls home. She has hit the top of the Hype Machine charts twice, and has been praised for her talent by Nylon, Refinery29, Vice, Clash, C-Heads, The Line of Best Fit, Notion and Complex, amongst many others.
Jinka’s sonic architecture is as eclectic as it can get, leaving you short of references. Her music could either be the latest import straight from space at your local vinyl store or the mangled soundscape of a masquerade in a 22nd century castle. The Transylvanian producer set up her laboratory in the unagitated western part of Berlin, where she creates a vivid blend of surrealistic production, minimalistic vocal performance style and fragmentary lyrics.
