Maria Louceiro was born in Porto. She Studied Mining and Geo-Environmental engineering, but found herself loving drawing and photographing the mines a lot more than actually working in them. Finishing her degree in Communication Design, she now photographs a lot of things beside the mines. She likes to experiment with her photos and to create a very special atmosphere.
KALTBLUT: Where do you get your inspiration from?
Maria: Sounds cliché but it’s mostly from perspiration. And a place called Jardins do Palácio de Cristal, a beautiful garden at Porto where I currently live.
KALTBLUT: Do you like experimenting with your photos?
Maria: Yes. Although lately I have been more in a consolidating phase, I am and will be experimenting mixing different media and fields.
KALTBLUT: How do your surroundings affect you?
Maria: I usually try to use my surroundings to turn it into the images I already have floating in my mind. Whatever I photograph it’s just really an excuse to achieve a certain image.
KALTBLUT: Do you have an upcoming project?
Maria: I will finish my college degree in two weeks, so I will have plenty of time for new ideas and projects! Probably will be collaborating too with other photographers and artists.
