Agathe Riedinger is a French director and photograph based in Paris. No Other Love is a personal work, not about fashion, music, star or yogurt. It’s about a woman, the same in photo and video. Stuck in her frame, half mad because she lost her love and then her mind.
“I love working on woman. Maybe because I am one, but in any case, I love this. Precisely, I love shooting the strip down. The rough woman, the « spire » woman. The half mad, the full woman. And when I can’t shoot this full woman, I invent her. « No Other Love » is from those. This woman had love, then lost it. And with it, the heart, and the mind.
« No Other Love » is a collection of 6 portraits and because her madness lead her to schizophrenia, the collection is divided in 6 photo and 6 video. With the video, I bring a layer, with the photo I remove a layer. In any case, her feeling stays. Stuck in a tight frame, blinded by the color, we see this woman expressing her melancholy, her anger, her divagations. She poses for the image and exposes her statement with subtitles to take distance, bring a layer oh humour, engrave her feeling in the eternal.
Slap with round trip. Paf paf.”
