The music world is preparing for the latest track from multi-instrumentalist and singer Zhao. The track, entitled ‘Magic’, is set to cement the musician’s reputation as one to watch in the year ahead, showing the range and complexity of his talents to a growing audience of music fans and music critics alike. Hit play for those smooth R’n’B vibes.
“Magic is the first part of a series of songs meant to just be fun,” says Zhao. “Coming off the release of my ‘Ride’ EP, which was quite introspective, I was inspired by Calvin Harris’s Funk Wav Bounces; songs built off the enjoyment of music creation. I wanted to exercise that side of me, with respect for pop song structure and hook-based melodies.”
With dramatic and expansive pop meditations, Zhao’s music invites comparisons to the cinematic stylings of some of the great musicians of our time, as well as possessing a timeless quality which effectively and evocatively spans generations. Zhao’s eclectic background has given him a unique take on life and art; growing up in Tennessee to Chinese immigrant parents, his childhood took him through the suburbs of Atlanta all the way to Los Angeles, where he’s been living and working ever since – honing his creative talents to the delight of music lovers everywhere.
