Ukrainian Winter

By Simon Koy

Photographer Simon Koy likes to travel around the world and loves East European countries, because there are a lot of uncommon things to see and not everything is clear like in Western countries -which sometimes can be very refreshing. KALTBLUT magazine presents his recent series “Ukrainian Winter”.

“The Ukrainian winter is hard but nice. There you really can feel how winter can be. -20 degrees is not unusual. The face of the eastern bloc countries changed extremely since the opening during the 90´s.For sure Ukrainian Winter is not gonna be everybody’s favorite but it is a really nice experience like the whole country. The cliches of Ukraine, what most people have in mind, are definitely not true. There’s more than Tschernobyl, fighting congressmen and long leg beauties. The country has a lot to offer. Nice cities and people, good food and interesting culture. Unfortunately, most people don’t know about it. It’s a pity, because it’s really worth a trip!! Even in winter.”
