Video Premiere: Man Power – ‘Pig Baron’

Man Power began as an anonymous musical enigma, incorrectly identified as DJs John Talabot, Michael Mayer, Andrew Weatherall. After two years he decided to drop the veil and Englishman-in-Mexico Geoff Kirkwood stepped forward. However, somehow the lines have been blurred since the projects conception, leaving Geoff now unsure as to where he ends and Man Power begins. A burgeoning identity crisis and ideas above his/their station seem to have paid off though, with the project having seen Man Power appear around the world and today landing a video premiere on KALTBLUT created by close friend Paul Barton, who will also be directing a live video for his next release. Hit play to enjoy the premiere below!

Man Power’s music draws inspiration from wilfully smart-arsed influences ranging from early 20th century modernism, to late 20th century New Wave, via experimental cinema, proto-house, proto-techno, in fact proto-everything (you know, like when it was still cool, yeah?). His somewhat experimental and pop textured debut eponymous album on Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant label released in 2015 was received with effusive reviews across the board and sits comfortably with his other eminent releases on the likes of Hivern Discs, Throne of Blood, Infine and Ene Japan. 2016 seems primed to see Geoff add further confusion towards the nature of his true self, as he embarks on an as yet unannounced ambitious conceptual music project and live performance, expanding on his unconventional yet adaptable musical journey.
