‘Dead Inside’ is the latest release from Antwerp producer Taska Black featuring vocals from London-based R&B singer Ayelle, out on bitbird. A song that both uplifts while acknowledging some things in life just don’t go as planned, ‘Dead Inside’ allows the listener to dwell in that dark place before coming back up for air. Taska’s dark bass production proves to be simultaneously optimistic while complex in theme and is perfectly complemented by Ayelle’s expressive vocals. With surreal visuals to match, ‘Dead Inside’ takes us on a journey into the human soul.
With Dead Inside I tried to create an atmosphere with a certain emotion; dark and hopeless but still optimistic, simple and chaotic at the same time. Dead Inside refers to a form of depression amongst millennials. Feeling lifeless while being alive. The purpose of this song is to make these feelings heard and manage to deal with them, rather than a cry for help.
Having been involved in music since he was just four years old, 21-year-old classically trained producer Taska Black has a unique flair for creating sleek, ruminative bass music with the potential of crossing over into the pop realm. A fairly new artist in the scene, Taska will be supporting San Holo on the EU run of his tour as well as some US dates and will also be playing Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza Paris this year.
Ayelle is a Swedish-Iranian R&B singer. She is a PRS Women Make Music grantee, a section of the PRS Foundation, which is the UK’s leading funder of new music and talent development. The PRS Women Make Music program strives to break down gender stereotypes within the music industry and increase the profile of women who are creating new music in the UK. With over 2 million streams on her releases on Spotify and the support of tastemakers such as Majestic Casual, Trap Nation, and bitbird, it goes without saying that Ayelle is quickly making strides in her career.
