Anna October introduces Resort 2023 Collection

#Lookbook – The Ukrainian designer Anna October proves that even in times of uncertainty there is still a place for beauty and development. With the strong aspiration to celebrate the sensuality of women’s bodies, Anna October presents the new Resort 2023 collection.

Together with a Ukrainian refugee tailor, Anna created part of this collection in Paris-based Institut Français de la Mode, while the rest was produced in the brand`s atelier in Ukraine under her careful guidance via Zoom.

This collection is a manifesto of lush life. Without a trace of rusticity and romanticism, it is a wardrobe for a woman living in a big city. The designer works with the references of the 90s fashion: the red carpet looks of the decade`s fashion icons, namely Kate Moss and Gwyneth Paltrow, and the works of Jean-Paul Gaultier — the iconic couturier that defined Anna October`s will to create clothes.

Anna October Resort 2023 is all about clothes. Reflecting on her own experience of moving to another country, the designer mused on fall to thinking about the wardrobe pieces to take with into the new life. A capsule of exceptional clothes, each item of which is a distinct piece of design. In Anna`s belief, such pieces can’t be made in haste, the process of their creation is time- and effort-consuming. The prime example of such attentive work is the brand`s knitwear — tops, handcrafted from crocheted napkins by the community of Ukrainian women. Carefully produced, these items are filled with the warmth of these women’s hands.

The Resort 2023 collection consists of low-waisted skirts, body-revealing dresses with cutouts, the brand`s iconic bras, tops with a wavy neckline, and a swimsuit — a completely new direction Anna starts to explore. The designer also continues to elaborate the techniques she incorporated in the Pre-Fall and Fall/Winter 2022-23 collections — fringed detailing, corsets in unexpected forms — as parts of pants and dresses, and patchwork.

The international fashion community significantly contributed to the creation of this collection — the deadstock fabrics for production were donated by French fashion brand Celine, and the outcome was captured in Paris by fashion photographer Nick Wagner in tandem with the model Gaїa Orgeas.
