A KALTBLUT exclusive editorial starring model Jan-Willem @ Models Rock Agency. Fashion by Craig Green, Topman, COS, Rogues of London, ZARA, J.W. Anderson, ACNE amongst others. The editorial ‘Archetypes’ is inspired by the book ‘Jocks & Nerds: Men’s style in the Twentieth Century’ by Richard Martin & Harold Koda. The authors of the book have examined twelve social roles (The Rebel, Cowboy, Hunter etc.) adopted by men in the 20th century, tracing the fashions and fashion leaders that have helped shape time. In recent years the appearance of men’s fashion took major steps towards a more outspoken look. However the boundaries in style and identity are still present and need to be pushed. Simultaneously the image of masculinity is changing, just as the image of time it is connected to. A man’s wardrobe is built on a variety of ideals where influences of today, past and future unite. Therefore his version of the ‘ideal man’ hangs in his wardrobe and consists out of a mix of multiple outfits. Photographer Ninette Schostack and Art director Martin Oomen explored the shifting identities in today’s men’s fashion. The research resulted in the editorial ‘Archetypes’; a translation of new identities based on style and colors of the spring/ summer menswear collection.
