As a rule, I rarely smile in life (it gives you lines guys, the less you smile the less your face resembles a discarded conker shell when you get old) but I broke that rule for the best thing I think I’ve seen all year. One word, Blindness. Photography by Karl Slater. Text by Lewis Robert Cameron.
This particular collection for S/S19, which aimed to take apart the notion of ‘First Love’, is literally me. It is everything exciting and unique about menswear right now and exactly how menswear should be evolving. Transforming themes of masculinity, femininity and gender fluidity by taking the ideas of romanticism and experimentation and making them modern and relevant again by challenging the dynamic belief of what it means to be a young man.
My face actually hurt I’d smiled so much by the end of this catwalk eleganza extravaganza. They threw me pearls, sheer voluminous sleeves, ruched skinny leather trousers, shoulder detailed tailoring, matched effortlessly with cute co-ordinated shorts and more ripples and ruffles than my cold, little gay heart could handle. And then there were masks. It was basically a dream come true.
