08.06 – 11.06.22 – Berlin Music Video Awards 2022 – 10th Anniversary

After 2 years of online editions, the Berlin Music Video Awards are coming back live in Berlin, celebrating their 10th anniversary from the 8th to the 11th of June in Club Gretchen! The Berlin Music Video Awards (BMVA) has been a staple in the Berlin international music festival scene since its first edition in 2013, putting filmmakers and the art behind music videos in the spotlight.

Popularity and budget do not matter and, as such, young, up-and-coming musicians/ filmmakers and directors can often come up against well-known names during the awards.

No matter the language, genre, or popularity, the BMVA rewards quality, originality and diversity.

Among the nominated music videos of BMVA 2022 stand also big names such as Elton John, the Weeknd, Grimes, Muse, FKA Twigs, Rammstein, Salvatore Ganacci, Stromae, Rosalia, Maneskin and more.

Queer artists are not to be excluded from the list, of course, honouring the diverse nature of the festival, such as Arca, Lil Nas X, Years and Years, Arlo Parks, Toya Delazy and more.

You can take a look at the full list of nominees and their music videos here:

The anticipation for the winners is bigger than ever since this year the main prize has been raised to 5000 euros, thanks to the growing interest of the artist’s international community in the festival.

Exclusively selected jury members, active in the international art scene, will decide the winners in 14 categories and 140 nominated music videos. Their work will be even more challenging compared to the previous year, not only owing to the quality of the selected music videos but also because one more category has been added to the list, the “Best Performer”.

KALTBLUT will be on the jury for the 10th year in a row, whereas this year Polish singer Brodka and UK techno musician Parma Ham will also be on the board, the first one also in the “Best Music Video” category and the second one in “Most Bizarre”.

The festival is known for presenting both electrifying and provocative acts on stage and this year is not going to be an exception. Parma Ham, who became popular on the international nightclub scene for his music, extreme look and attitude will be DJing during the event, accompanied by performances from guitarist the Shredder and artists Baris Safari and Sedrik Perry. More names are due to be announced soon, so stay tuned.

It’s undeniable that the Berlin Music Video Awards appreciate aesthetics and fashion, as they are integral parts of the music video industry.

But, fashion is not only a part of the nominated videos in the Berlin Music Video Awards. Every year, the festival invites talented designers to showcase their alternative designs in its own Fashion Concept, which takes place on the last and most spectacular day.

The chosen designers for the 10th edition are more special than ever, bringing their artisanal, avant-garde creations and unique visions to the BMVA catwalk.
