Romania has a local scene bustling with creativity, an emerging market open to experimentation and Bucharest Fashion Film Festival is looking forward to introduce you and your work to this scene, creating a window of opportunities for future collaborations with some of the most innovative creatives in Eastern Europe. Alongside showcasing your work during the festival, the festival is actively engaged in creating a community at the crossroads of film, fashion and advertising, a platform to discuss, advertise calls for collaboration and receive feedback on the latest fashion films to hit the stage.
“We have set to reward the cutting edge, the fresh, the humorous, the boundary bending, the sublime and deliver the perfect concoction of emerging talent and acclaimed figures to our public. The festival has a prize pool of 2400 euros, split into three categories: Best Fashion Film, Best Local Fashion Film and Fresh Perspectives.”
For the previous edition, which was also the first one to host a competition, Bucharest Fashion Film Festival received more than 200 submissions from 33 countries, out of which 53 were screened.
A fashion film is usually a short film sitting at the crossroads of an arthouse film and a commercial, aimed to communicate the tone, movement and concept of a collection. After checking this basic criteria, the options are numerous: it can have dialogue and a narrative, or it can be more experimental, it could be commissioned by a brand, or it could include the creations of many designers etc. Fashion films are a cinematographer’s dream – moody, stylized and typically targeting a niche audience.
Bucharest Fashion Film Festival emerges as a discussion forum about the relationship between fashion and film by use of film screenings, roundtables and special events. Combining the best in contemporary fashion film with a selection of cult classics with strong aesthetics, the festival will connect top creatives in the film and fashion industry, branding agencies and design studios. In the age of digitisation, fashion brands are starting to use audiovisual content more and more as a strategic tool to express their identity.
