#ModaLisboa SS16 Timers – Lisbon based fashion designer Cristina Real unveiled her new Spring/Summer collection for 2016 at ModaLisboa at the SANGUE NOVO (Young Blood) section. Named: Disforme. This is womenswear in perfection! And my favourite womenswear collection from Portugal. What a talent! The concept for Disforme came through the passage of a natural state to a city universe. The focus is on capturing the moment through an image that takes us to another time. The accuracy of the event – what we see and what we create – leads us to an exploration and transformation of that same image, reporting us to velocity times, adrenaline and speed where everything moves at the speed of light.
The connection with different environments – racing classic cars and surrounding means, organized chaos, explosion of information – leads to a relaxed deformity, where nothing is restricted to the original idea. The color palette includes white, beige, yellow, dark yellow, blue, red, rose, green, black. The materials used in the collection range from sequins to nobuck, glitter, mousseline, neoprene, satin, napa and organza.
Cristina Real was born in Lisbon in 1989. In 2009, she started her degree in Fashion Design in MODATEX, in Oporto. In 2012, she participated with a small collection in the THE project, which resulted from the partnership with Modatex | THE Store. In the same year she presented her finalist degree collection in the Young Creatives competition in Cascais. After she finished her degree, she started an internship with the portuguese designer Alexandra Moura, in Lisbon, and became her assistant in the Spring/Summer 2013 and Fall/Winter 13/14 collections.
In March 2014, she presented the “Interruption” collection at ModaLisboa’s Sangue Novo. On july of the same year, she won the second place on the Sportswear category of the IDA (Internacional Design Awards) contest, in the United States of America. Since then, she presents her collections at Sangue Novo every season.
