Berlin-based producer and DJ Mætadata shares a mix inspired by their curiosity towards the future of life and the human race as a follow-up to their latest EP Simulacra & Simulation. Mætadata describes other data. It provides information about a certain item’s content, like an image, song or video. A text’s document metadata may contain information about how long the document is, who the author is, when the document was written and a short summary of the article. Having that in mind, Fabio Matafora, born and raised in Brazil decided to pick up the cognomen and use it as a way to express himself artistically through this persona.
Mætadata’s last release, Simulacra & Simulation, came after an analytic and revealing period that lead him to this decision. The EP unfolds Mætadata’s sound interpretation of our age, time, where society replaces the truth and its meanings, shaping the human experience as a simulation of the real. Fast data exchange, virtual layers and simulacrums covering clear information as something relevant for our life comprehension. All this happened abruptly when, after, several years of producing and performing in local parties, Fabio decided to move to Berlin and start his musical journey all over again.
