Fresh, exciting, audacious, fun .. What a show! One of my favourites from the runway so far – Sorry, I’m Not really made a big impression at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Russia. Bad girls and bad boys are gonna love these clothes! I needed to know more about the designer behind the brand. Nikita Moiseenko is 29 years old and was born in Ufa, Siberia but is now based in Moscow. After studying in multimedia, Nikita decided to use all of his skills in fashion and found himself a job as a theatre costume designer assistant which quickly resulted in becoming interested in prints on fabrics. Three years later he created his first full collection.
KALTBLUT: What was your Inspiration(s) for this collection?
Sorry I’m Not: It was a jellyfish, flying through water, so beautiful and dangerous at the same time. And also you can see the influence of 90s period in fashion.
KALTBLUT: What was the most challenging piece to create?
Sorry I’m Not: As you recognized there were plastic details in some garments, so that was the biggest challenge to make it look perfect.
KALTBLUT: You did collection for men and women. Did you work on both collections separately or all together?
Sorry I’m Not: We’ve worked on it spontaneously all together, because ideas for different pieces came suddenly and all together
KALTBLUT: Did you think the whole collection as one or did you think it first for men and then for women?
Sorry I’M Not: We thought about it as basically a women collection with some interesting male pieces. We were more than right, because some male pieces are very popular amongst women!
KALTBLUT: You use 3D Printing for some pieces, like the shoes. How was it to use this technique? Was it a big help?
Sorry I’m Not: That was tricky! It was our first experience and we didn’t know all requirements for applying this technology particularly in shoes. But, for sure, we’ve achieved our goal and the heels look fabulous.
KALTBLUT: Where can we buy your brand?
Sorry I’m Not: You can buy our products via our online store sorryiamnot.com or visit our workshop in Moscow and also you can find us in several multibrand-stores in Europe
KALTBLUT: How has been the reaction so far?
Sorry I’m Not: The reaction is great! We have a big amount of publications, support, interest and, of course, orders. We see how our collection and runway-show elevate us to another level of recognition.
KALTBLUT: What’s happening now for you? Next step…
Sorry I’M Not: After every runway-show there is a new collection to design and we’ve already started working on it. We definitely will continue to break through the conservatism of Russian fashion!
