#MondayMood NRVS LVRS – Cult Lite EP

Husband & wife duo NRVS LVRS are here with their highly awaited Cult Lite EP – the SF artist’s newest musical venture.! New feature track “Little Cults” is the best way to start your day, with good energy and an infectious melody. Exploring various avenues from the broody and apocalyptic love song “Prom Night Blues” to the invigorating and bouncy “Only Human,” the Cult Lite EP explores the highs, the lows, and the in-betweens. “Cult Lite is brought to you by a world in which corporations are people, people are brands, and all that matters is the fleeting satisfaction of being aspirational,” explain the duo. “Cult Lite gives you nothing you need but everything you want. We’re different from other cults. We’re Lite! That means fun! We don’t have your best interests at heart, and all we are asking for is your unearned and unflagging devotion.”

NRVS LVRS (pronounced “Nervous Lovers”) is the dreamy electro-pop project of Andrew Gomez and Bevin Fernandez. Their music flirts with caustic electro-pop elements similar to that of The Knife, Bat for Lashes, or Crystal Castles. The dulcet tones of Fernandez’ soaring vocals complimented by Gomez’ low crooning glide over layers of swirling synths & layered drum loops to create compelling electronic soundscapes.

NRVS LVRS shed light on hard, but very real human experiences and do it so eloquently. As the saying goes, music is medicine for the soul and NRVS LVRS have found a way to share and grieve in this new project. They will be donating 50% of all of their Bandcamp digital sales to No Kid Hungry for the duration of the current COVID-19 crisis.

As most of us embrace our new reality, the Cult Lite EP offers a way to settle into those feelings. Whether you’re in need of some soul-soothing or an upbeat dance track, Cult Lite covers it all. New single “Little Cults” is that wake-up and conquer the day kind of song. Uplifting hand-claps and bouncy percussion compliment the controlled but chaotic soundscape. For 3:37 seconds you’re able to let go of all the things weighing you down and just float in the magic.

NRVS LVRS saw acclaimed praise for their 2015 debut LP, The Golden West. SF Weekly called it as “crepuscular and opaque, with a grimy layer to it that thinly disguises the vein of pop running through the song[s].” NRVS LVRS has spent the past few years creating and maintaining their name in the indie-pop-darkwave scene. They’ve opened for acts like Jagwar Ma and Telekinesis and received glowing reviews from PopMatters, Noisey, The Line of Best Fit, and more.

NRVS LVRS have kicked off 2020 with a string of releases from their upcoming EP, recorded in Los Angeles with producer Eric Palmquist (WAVVES, FMLYBND). “Only Human,” and “Far Away” have garnered praise from tastemakers and fans worldwide, making HypeMachine’s Top 10 and spins on Alt1053’s Soundcheck w/ Aaron Axelsen & Dallas Osborn three weeks in a row.

Some final words from the duo – “Decisions are scary, so let us take care of this one for you. Listen to ‘Little Cults,’ our cheery jingle for your rattled nerves. Things are looking bleak. Wouldn’t a distraction be great right about now? Put on a great big smile & bop along!”
