On Saturday, August 5th the Mensch Meier is hosting MOONLIGHT Vol. II SPACE RAVE to mark the second anniversary of WIDOWS COLLECTIVE and showcase promising artists of the underground club scene. Last year’s showcase in Kulturhaus Kili included artists such as Antonia XM, t0ni, Nurse3d, Linnéa and Ixa. This time Widows Collective is bringing together an International line-up and is eager to welcome Argentina natives EL PLVYBXY and RATTLESNAKKE, representatives of AGVA RECORDS – one of the key labels of the experimental Latin club scene. Alternative R’n’B and trap acts DEATXWISH and BAE.CON are presenting their energetic live performances. Prague-based producer Oliver Torr will share his experimental noise live-set. Label residents OTTO VLOTTO, YULAV and DJ HOT BITCH are joining with high-paced sets of all possible kinds of rhythms. For this event WIDOWS collaborates with MOVEMENT13, curating one of the dancefloors.
WIDOWS is a music label focusing on experimental audiovisual production. It stands for the emancipation of cultural experience and works on creating equal opportunities for marginalised artists. Founded in 2020, Widows’ main focus lies in diversifying the music landscape of Berlin and putting styles such as reggaeton, trap, noise, gabber, breakcore and deconstructed/hybrid club music into a techno-dominated club context. Widows Collective is known by many for running one of the very few platforms to perform during the pandemic – WIDOWS RADIO, showcasing the diversity of the underground talents often overlooked by big promoters. The label has been releasing fundraising projects as well. The latest one – curation of the compilation PALESTINE. EVERLASTING LAND. The compilation aims to gather funds for DCI-Palestine – one of the oldest independent NGOs, promoting Children’s Rights in the West Bank.
