Nixon teams up with California Artist Steven Harrington to Launch The Nixon Surf Psychedelia Collection. And we WANT all items! Love it! The sun-drenched California coast of the 1960s promised peace, love and freedom. Not to mention uncrowded surf breaks, where longhairs on single-fins and beach girls in teeny bikinis turned West Coast life into a culture of groovy good times and endless possibilities. It was the golden age of rock-n-roll, with Bay Area bands supplying the essential soundtrack; a swirling, prismatic mix of fuzzed out jams that paired perfectly with experimental mind-expansion and the raw energy of the burgeoning youth movement. The influence of this carefree and colorful era endures with our Surf Psychedelia Collection, highlighted by the original artwork of California native Steven Harrington.
The only thing serious about Steven’s artwork is his dedication to keeping it fun. And colorful. And kinda wacky. The tireless output of this young Los Angeles native has pushed him to the forefront of the California psych-art scene, and brought his warped, kaleidoscopic creations to eyes all over the world. His style blends bold colors with geometric shapes and patterns, offering up anthropomorphic trees, eyeballs on everything, and strange cartoonish creatures of all sorts.
The Surf Psychedelia Collection is available now on www.nixon.com,
Nixon Paris & London stores and in a selection of Nixon’s finest retailers accross Europe.
