London Fashion Week: Day 2. Our UK editor Karl Slater went backstage at the The Ones to Watch fashion show. Featuring 4 new and up and coming designers showcasing their fiRst collections at London fashion week. Selected from a shortlist of 50 designers by a panel of industry experts, the Ones to Watch judges this season included Hilary Alexander OBE, Sara Maino at Italian Vogue, Kendall Robbins of the British Council and Martyn Roberts Fashion Scout’s founder and Director.
Fresh new London label, from designer Jinhee Moon. After graduating from LCF BA in 2014, Jinhee was selected as one of the 200 best emerging talents by Vogue Italia.Creating experimental garments with a suprising juxtaposition of texture, colour and shape, J Moon has a playful signature aesthetic.
Winner of the 2013 H&M design award, Minju Kim presents an aesthetic of extreme curves and peplums, exaggerated silhouettes and an array of textures. Already stocked in Opening Ceremony in New York, Los Angeles and London, the South Korean born designer has alsobeen shortlisted for the LVMH prize and collaborated with Disney.
Designer Angel Chen graduate from Central Saint Martins BA in 2014 with a dream of creating. She brings a romantic but rebellious spirit to her designs, developing her fabric manipulation skill by working for Marchessa and Vera Wang in New York. Chen’s graduate collection “Les Noces” has already gained much press attention, published in Vogue UK, The Evening Standard, i-D Magazine and The Times.
Origionally from Australia, now London based Kim Stevenson graduated from the University of East London and presented at Graduate Fashion Week in 2014. Kim takes into account ethical sourcing of all her textiles, producing work that represents the value of the art of handcraft, whilst also taking inspiration from exciting directions in youth culture and style.
