May I introduce you to Mexican menswear fashion designer Barbara Sanchez Kane and her amazing design?! Photography by Amber Bigwood. Models are Nicholas Brian and Kenny Nogueira. Hair and make up by Gioconda Sirolli. Barbara Sanchez Kane presented her collection at LAFW.
“The collection was born from personal loss. On the way I gather an army of Nostalgia to kill the monsters that haunt that memory. I take inspiration form Casasola photography archive of Mexican Revolution and my personal diary. Hand made cross stich (typical from Mayan communities of my city) represent the banishment of memory’s fragmentation. 3D figures pop out of the garments as our right to reproduce and equality. Sometimes I confuse reality with fantasy, for seconds I still can touch and feel that dimension I lived in once, but as soon as I approach it I realize is all empty and gone, the only thing remaining is the pain and deformation within us. I created the metal pieces to be seen as sculptures. They put more weight in our body’s allowing us to stay with our feet on the ground and keep fighting our journey of pain. We can see the cause of all that pain unifying the side profile, breasts and legs. Courage of the brave of heart.”
