WHOLE festival was supposed to take place next month in June. Due to the current situation, they have been forced to cancel what would have been their 4th edition. It is still unclear if they would be able to postpone this to 2021. The hard reality is that such a small festival is gonna have a hard time getting back on their feet from this Pandemic. That’s why they launched a crowdfunding campaign for us to help to make sure that this queer space will not disappear. #savewholefestival
“Globally we are all experiencing very dire, unknown financial circumstances. Many of us, our friends & colleagues have lost all income for the foreseeable future. The festival’s lack of financial reserves makes the current situation near impossible for us to face on our own. The hard reality is that we need to raise €100,000 to keep WHOLE alive.” Donate here.
“Even without hosting this year’s event, we’ve incurred unrecoverable production costs, and we’d like to compensate our staff for their work. We carry significant debts from our developing years; none of our previous editions have broken even. There is no corporate investment or major sponsors: ticket sales fund everything we do, everything that WHOLE is, is thanks to you. A major act of solidarity from our community is the only thing that will ensure the survival of WHOLE in these uncertain times.”
“Refund forms were sent to all ticket holders by email on Friday, April 24, 2020, which must be filled out by May 8, 2020. We’ve kindly asked ticket holders to consider donating 25% of each ticket to help us reach our goal, should they be in a position to do so. The response thus far has been incredible & heartwarming.”
“We’ve launched a crowdfunding campaign so that those who have yet to purchase a ticket can also help out, ensuring the longevity of this project. As queer people, rarely do we get to experience such a pure place of radical acceptance without anxiety or fear. WHOLE is one of the very few queer camping festivals in the world. Losing this supportive space would be a major loss for our community, impacting the collectives who’ve dedicated countless hours to its development, and the artists & audience members that rely on it as a nurturing, creative environment. WHOLE Festival acts like a summit, bringing queer collectives from all over the world together for a weekend of art, music, workshops, performances, panels & more. United, our voices make a strong impact through intersectional solidarity.
WHOLE extends a warm thank you to 2020 Solidarity, organised by Wolfgang Tillmans & Between Bridges. The project aims to help cultural community projects that are existentially threatened by the current crisis, by organising, printing and distributing artworks to organisations in need free of charge. Big thanks to them and all the participating artists. The crowdfunding campaign will be continuously updated with new rewards. At the end of the week a limited series of photographs taken at last year’s festival will be released.
