There are not so many standards in the world. But humanity has so much diversity. And part of this diversity is still banned. Nature can cost someone a life. It’s just enough to be who you are. All of us, so to say, is in the image and likeness, but the differences have always been and will be.
Through the lens of fashion photography, I want to show that the differences between us are very minimalistic. But our only association belongs to the representatives of homo sapiens. And each of us has a soul.
Our soul can accept any variety that each of us is gifted with. And being a sapiens means to understand all we are given: to study, to appreciate the whole assortment we are presented with. And also to understand that every created manifestation is worth not only of the right to live but also of the right to be equal, to be happy.
Despite its title, this is not a project about only some certain standards in life. It’s about the nature of human species. Every one of the people portrayed here is treated in an identical way, regardless of who they are. The choice of models isn’t accidental. Each of the models is unique in its distinctive feature in society. In our case, in Russia for the most part, is traditional Orthodox society. Race belonging is defined by pronounced features: the shape of the skull, the slit of eyes, skin colour. rare anatomical features, not standard gender. And if you go even deeper inside, you can also meet a non-sexual standard.
As for the style and clothes, I would like to throw light on the choice of colours. White always makes nature stripped. Nude shades are tender and calm, bringing peace and harmony, where all types can exist with a great effort.
You can notice the medical items: bandages, gauze, patches. Their minimalism is due to the fact that these persecuted people don’t pay attention to them and disguise their wounds under the mask of positive. So, can it be over wise? Who loves sad nowadays?
“For me, creativity is above all an emotion embodied by the artist through the prism of his world view. I have always been inspired by the idea that a person is able to go beyond the usual perception of things, cross the boundary of the subconscious and be in a parallel universe, studied much less than the most distant stars of alien galaxies. Being engaged in photography, I feel that emotional union with the moment that is ultimately transmitted through the picture and makes it live, really. This feeling is love. Love of the unknown, love of art, love of the world. And while this love is disturbed by the strongest storm in the safe haven of my soul, the desire to create does not abate in me, which means to live.” says Vlada Ivanova
