The Room No5 – ODIO x Jakub PIECZARKOWSKI SS16 Campaign
Fashion made in Poland! The campaign of the newest collection of the Polish duet ODIOxPieczarkowski mixes java with dreams, since only in dreams the impossible comes to existence. The editorial was constructed on the logic of illusions. The capture of the alternative world seems to be unusually alluring – it emanates with under-skin tensions, intrigues with a colour pallet. The dominant feeling of starring at the scene through the matt glass forces us to wonder, if that what we appreciate is real. Maybe memory plays tricks and changes memorized pictures.
Narration doubles and the figures matched in pairs, gaze intensively in the space. Twins in resembling, nearly identical clothing pieces awake the reference to Kubrick’s “The Shining”. Models, like spectrums, appear in hallways, window frames, stairs or door frames.
The great importance has been put on props. Mirrors transfer the observer into the world of Velazquez, where lighting extracts details of motionless ladies-in-waiting. Both ladies-in-waiting and the models, bring to the artist’s studio a dose of decadence. Another resemblance to the painter at the court of king Philip IV of Spain – the delicacy and precision of hairstyling, which was prepared by Sebastian Kobielski from studio Jaga Hupalo Born To Create.
The seriousness of the scene’s composition is broke by ODIOxPieczarkowski by the references to kitsch. Plastic, fake flowers, balloons, lacy curtains are another level created by the dreaming spirit.
