Every month we’ll be bringing you the names to watch that have us hooked, so you’ll be not to miss the EP’s, debut albums, and first tour dates of our favourite rising stars. Whether you’re a techno lover or a dream pop devotee, there’s sure to be something new for you. Keep an eye out!

Kevin Over

With a solid fan base on his Soundcloud of almost 13,000 followers, Kevin Over has been building a reputation for his warm 90s infused techno for the past couple of years, and is rapidly emerging from the underground scene to a wider audience. Championed by techno masters from Laurent Garnier to Adam Beyer, one of Kevin’s latest releases, Retrovisions Pt. II was a strong and evolved follow up to last years EP of the same name. With the Write Your Hits EP, released at the end of last month, he has continued to firmly establish himself within the techno/house genre, and we’re looking forward to his lengthy list of tour dates this summer!

Mitski’s fabulously tongue in cheek and surprisingly erotic video for ‘Your Best American Girl’ released last month got everybody talking, and for good reason. The Japanese born, American based singer represents a new wave of rebellious female pop artists, who aren’t afraid to delve into new territories with their sound. Her brand of dirty alt-rock pop, which throws us back into our teenage years with a more grown up, modern twist is massively appealing, and we can’t wait to see what she has in store with upcoming album Puberty 2, out in June.

A Dead Forest Index

Starting out as a solo project of Adam Sherry, in 2010 his brother Sam Sherry joined him, and together they became the dreamy, minimalist, electronic act A Dead Forest Index. Dedicated to their craft, with an intense, slow burning style, the brothers have naturally spent the last couple of years forming and shaping their sound – and it paid off. Their latest release, taken from debut LP In All That Drifts From Summit Down, is a gorgeous, ambient and atmospheric take on , with a chorus of heartbreaking vocals and stirring synths and crescendos. Having just finished a tour supporting Chelsea Wolfe, their heading out on their own to the US this year, and their live performance are a truly unique experience – so don’t miss out!

Black Chai Stevia

‘Hoodie’ is the first video from Berlin group Black Chair Stevia. The guys apparently met at a church service when one was an altar boy and now they’re creating huge menancing music like the above. ‘Hoodie’ is set to be released under Island Records, Four Music and Bimmbamm. In the meantime you can probably find them hanging around Hermannplatz eating at a vegan diner.

Pearl River Sound

Pearl River Sound, aka Roberto Semeraro, is based in Rome, Italy. He first emerged onto the scene in 2012 with an experimental cassette album released by Seattle based label Further Records. Since then he has kept Pearl River Sound confined to his bedroom studio – choosing instead to develop and practice his craft, emerging only briefly to drop a successful 12” in 2015 via the R&S affiliated Meda Fury records. Roberto describes Pearl River Sound as having ‘a pure, infant and melancholy style’. His latest release, Kiss My Smiling Face, is an EP recovered from the charred rubble of a post-apocalyptic melt down – a relic from the distant future.
