UMBRO – Revisits the 90s with ARP Sneakers Collection
At the same time as Terracewear entered the mainstream, Umbro‘s football teams won trophies all over the world and the legendary double diamond designs were suddenly seen all over the streets. Archive Research Project – ARP for short – is Umbro’s sneaker project: an initiative that looks back on the unmistakable trends of that time and the central role of Umbro with cutting-edge sportswear.
Today, decades later, sportswear has conquered an even more important niche in the fashion world. For the first time in Spring/Summer 2019, Umbro combined its decades of experience in footwear and street fashion with some of the most popular designs from its archives to create a nostalgic collection. Through the revival of the 90s and the fascination for the revolutionary youth culture that Britpop and Rave created, chunky sneakers have become an integral part of current shoe trends.
For the ARP collection in Autumn/Winter 2019, Umbro is increasingly focusing on appealing to the individual tastes of its customers. The feedback on the design approaches for the styles of Umbro Projects was incorporated into the decision for the daring prints and colour combinations of the new collection, which range from versatile to eye-catching: an Umbro sneaker for every personality and every outfit.
