Is Prince´s Paisley Park home going to become a museum?

Paisley Park estate is reportedly set to become a museum dedicated to the late icon. The Minnesota compound, which is rumoured to be around 65,000 square feet in size, was the home of the notoriously private artist for 27 years. It was where he recorded, lived, and even conducted his interviews – though visitors were always banned from sharing any images from within its walls.

However, according to Prince’s long-time collaborator Sheila E, the doors of the estate will soon be open to everyone. In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, she revealed that the building was currently being turned into a shrine to the icon.

“(He) was working on it being a museum,” she explained on Sunday. “He’s been gathering memorabilia and stuff from all the tours, like my drums and his motorcycle. There’s a hallway of his awards and things, which he really didn’t care about too much, but he displayed it for the fans because he knows that they would want to see it.”

The news was also confirmed by Prince’s brother-in-law Maurice Philips. “We will turn Paisley Park into a museum in Prince’s memory,” he said at the artist’s memorial service. “It would be for the fans. He was all about the fans – this would remember his music, which is his legacy. Prince was always private but would have wanted his music remembered.”
