On November 27th, Berlin’s vibrant music scene was once again set ablaze by the enthralling sounds of SON Estrella Galicia at the iconic Gretchen. The spotlight shone brightly on the Greek indie pop sensation, Σtella, whose magnetic melodies left the audience spellbound. Thanks to SON Estrella Galicia for bringing such stunning artists to our city!
As the evening unfolded, Σtella enchanted attendees with tracks from her latest album, “Adagio,” released under the prestigious Sub Pop label. This lush auditory journey enveloped listeners in a warm embrace, marrying philosophical themes of love, longing, and the passage of time into a 27-minute sonic reflection. Each note, punctuated by intricate nylon-string guitars and ethereal percussion, resonated with the crowd as her music transported them to realms of nostalgia. Standout tracks such as “Omorfo Mou” and a mesmerising cover of the 1969 Greek New Wave classic “Ta Vimata” showcased her ability to seamlessly blend English and Greek lyrics.
Kicking off the night was the enchanting Sofia, known for her ethereal pop-synth sound that playfully weaves through electronic landscapes. With an artistic journey punctuated by standout releases like “Canciones para saltarse por encima,” Sofia enticed the audience into her vibrant world, where the complexities of life are expressed with an effortless lightness. Her exhilarating performance was a perfect complement to Σtella’s captivating set.
