“This editorial reimagines these avian creatures as a symbol of justice for voices which have been silenced. Focusing upon victims of violence, shamed and ostracised by society. My work empowers these victims by following the story of the siren. This series challenges viewers to confront the potential for beauty to become lethal. Standing as an artistic exploration of the weaponisation of seduction. Exploring the primal and transformative dynamic through four visual chapters: “The Seductress, “Eaten Death, “Fluidity and “Rebirth”.
The Coral Seductress.
The silk twists and sways like amber, pink coral, concealing danger behind its delicate curtain. The model’s captivating movement and appearance hide the fact that she is fully dressed in human hair. I designed and made this look stitching each blonde lock together by hand. The hair was a deeply personal choice signifying danger. The dance is a visual representation of the Sirens’ hypnotic allure. She is an ambiguous man-eating siren. The non-human mythical embodiment of female rage, revenge and justice. Sirens use sexuality as their weapon, seducing with their voices, beauty and tantalising allure. The photography emphasises sharp edges within soft layers of my design, the blades concealed behind the alluring appearance of silk. The gaze pierces through the frame with a primal intensity. Once she’s attracted her prey, she’ll consume its flesh, shown in the image titled Eaten Death.” Written by Anna Creasey
