Ace & Tate Unveils Exclusive Collaboration with Ahluwalia: A Celebration of Sustainable Artistry and Cultural Narratives in Eyewear

In a trailblazing fusion of imaginative prowess and sustainable artistry, Ace & Tate joins forces with the inventive London fashion beacon, Ahluwalia, the brainchild of the esteemed Priya Ahluwalia. Together, they weave a narrative that is quintessentially rooted in the eclectic vibrancy of London’s sartorial rhythm.

Ahluwalia’s visionary essence, renowned for marrying a rich Nigerian-Indian lineage with the spirited heart of London, was celebrated in a grand revelation during the Spring/Summer 2024 Runway show. As Ace & Tate premieres its inaugural collaborative venture with Ahluwalia, eyewear is reimagined through the inspired lens of Priya’s transformative design ethos.

For this collaboration I infused our signature style, playing with layering prints and textured acetate, resulting in a unique visual tapestry. The journey from concept to production was fun and inspiring and I can’t wait to see people wear the sunglasses.

PRIYA AHLUWALIA, CREATIVE DIRECTOR AND FOUNDER OF AHLUWALIA

Synchronized with Ahluwahlia’s “Acknowledgements” collection, the exclusive sunglasses edit finds a muse in the oft-shadowed artistic voices from the diaspora, articulating a visual sonnet in their honour. Adorning Ace & Tate’s fresh SS24 silhouettes, Niku and Mirko, are echoes of the narrative – extending bouquets of homage to erstwhile unsung maestros.

The audaciously silhouetted and slightly avian Mirko leads the ensemble with two modern colour palettes. Mirko in Baya dons a flirtatious pink hue, reminiscent of Baya Mahieddine’s illustrious brushstrokes – an Algerian artistic giant whose creativity sparked an epoch in Picasso’s oeuvre. In contrast, Mirko in Namsa proposes understated fortitude, with a classic design bearing an internally emboldened motif.

For the connoisseur of minimalist elegance, the Niku frame parades a rectilinear poise, graced by the Aurat and Valaida prints. Both variants celebrate the designer’s insignia with a bespoke ‘A’ core wire. Each set nestles within a plush cotton pouch emblazoned with the “Ace & Tate by Ahluwalia” crest, alongside a print-adorned cleaning cloth.

Ensconced within a sugarcane-derived box, ethically rooted and wrapped in paper espousing Ahluwalia’s iconic patterns, this partnership encapsulates a symphony of conscious craftsmanship and aesthetic gallantry.
