Aesthetic Illusion

A KALTBLUT exclusive. Ukrainian performer Masha Panda in a shoot with Berlin-based photographer Sergey Skip. Shot in Kyiv right before the escalation of the barbarian war against Ukraine, at the time when it felt the new year was finally about to bring the long-awaited ecstasy of post-pandemic freedom.

These shots came out as emotive introspection into the elusive techno club experiences. The visual form of shattered memories of ecstatic dancing, isolated in the void of infinite dark space.

About the photographer:

Sergey Skip is an emerging artist exploring obscure yet sensual sides of fine art and fashion photography. He is based between Berlin and Lisbon. In his works Sergey deliberately skews the reality capturing its subjective perception. As if it would have been possible to make shots of one’s hazy memories and demonstrate them as evidence of how fragile and emotional human memory can be. His shots are not direct reflections of reality, but rather their cinematic emotional illusion stored in still frames. Something that couldn’t be described, but may be felt.
