Paris-based alt-pop artist Aime Simone has teamed up with UK music legend Peter Doherty, known for his work with The Libertines and Babyshambles, to release the new single “WEREWOLF” today, October 31st. The track opens with an atmospheric spoken-word introduction from Doherty, leading into a soulful and haunting confession that builds into a cinematic experience. Featuring a moody bassline, “WEREWOLF” weaves through ethereal soundscapes and a sense of restrained melancholy, successfully balancing intimacy with an underlying tension. The song encapsulates the eerie essence of longer nights and the seasonal shift into darkness, where themes of vulnerability and danger converge.

The collaboration is rooted in personal history. In September 2012, a young Aime attended a Doherty concert that greatly influenced him, inspiring a lasting friendship based on their mutual artistic sensitivities. More than a decade later, “WEREWOLF” signifies the culmination of their shared creative journey, presenting a poignant duet filled with depth and emotional tension.
Reflecting on their initial meeting, Aime recalls, “I threw a notebook of poems at Peter during his concert at the Bus Palladium, and then he brought me up on stage and handed me his guitar. I suddenly found myself in front of him and his audience… on a whim, I played one of my first compositions. We became friends that day. He has taught me a lot, like an older brother, a mentor. He was one of the first people who truly believed in me.”
Establishing himself as one of France’s most innovative pop figures, Aime gained recognition with his diamond-certified hit “Shining Light,” which has over 60 million streams and features on his debut album, Say Yes, Say No (2020). Born in Paris to Norwegian parents, Aime developed his unique style while performing in Berlin before returning to release his sophomore album, Oh Glory, and embarking on several international tours. His upcoming live performance of “Answer The Night” at the 2024 Victoires de la Musique, the French equivalent of the Grammys, marks another significant achievement in his career.
Aime, now signed to Because Music (home to notable artists such as Christine and the Queens and Shygirl), is experiencing a rapid rise in popularity with the release of “WEREWOLF.” Following the successful rollout of his latest album REV and the accompanying tour, which showcased his dynamic performance style, Aime is set to headline at L’Olympia in Paris on November 20th, 2025, marking a significant moment in his evolving artistic journey.
