Al Badiya Studio is a creative agency born in Marrakech that creates editorials and documentaries on the essence of our Moroccan roots to connect the Mediterranean culture rather than divide it.
“Al Badiya comes from the Arabic lbidaya, meaning “the beginning.”
It marks the start of a journey — cultural, personal, and ancestral. In Arabic, Al Badiya also means bled, the countryside — a symbol of our family’s land, our roots, and the untamed fertility of nature.
This is reflected in the installation’s rocky landscape and the central carpet, which offers warmth, protection, and memory. It represents a return to origin — a personal experience of rural life.
At the heart of the work is the story of Sita, a young woman from Côte d’Ivoire in search of opportunity. Her struggles with cultural displacement reflect our own experience as a second-generation immigrant raised in Italy.
Al Badiya 1.0 is a space of memory and transformation — where identity, migration, and belonging converge.”
