A Darkly Poetic Denim Debut
In a move that excites the denim-loving world, Rivas employs exclusively recovered materials while ensuring responsible water usage in the washing processes. It’s his first foray into denim, and he’s done it with flair, embodying a zero-waste philosophy that resonates throughout the collection. Remarkably, 95% of the artisans involved hail from London and Peru, demonstrating Rivas’s commitment to female empowerment in the fashion industry.
The collection itself is a textural feast. It features stunning handwoven recycled wool crafted by women artisans, embellished with metallic accents sourced from eyelets, pins, and hooks that challenge the mundane. Each piece is a celebration of intricate craftsmanship, culminating in gothic-inspired silhouettes that nod to crow skulls, all elevated by bespoke 3D-printed accessories that brilliantly merge tradition with innovation.
The backstage magic was expertly captured by photographer Emil Gentes, whose lens transformed these intimate moments into a visual narrative. With hair directed by the talented Richard Phillipart and makeup by the renowned Manuel de Castro, flown in from Paris and London, respectively, the presentation atmosphere crackled with creativity. Musical vibes were curated by Kai Brophy, adding layers to this artistic experience held at the illustrious Embassy of Peru in Berlin.
Rivas’s ‘A Feast for Crows’ not only marks his venture into denim but also cements his standing as the first and only Peruvian designer to showcase four consecutive seasons at London Fashion Week. With this collection, he expands his creative landscape while staying true to his philosophy of fashion infused with purpose, power, and poetry. We love this collection—it’s a visionary statement that redefines what it means to wear one’s values.
