On July 5th, the brilliant creative duo Cristian Huygens and Natalia Golubenko took over the iconic Weltwirtschaft am Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) to present AEROSPATIAL, the stunning Spring/Summer 2027 collection from SELVA HUYGENS. Having already dressed global cultural icons like Lady Gaga, Jared Leto, and FKA Twigs, this presentation during Berlin Fashion Week firmly cemented one thing for me: this brand is for sure one to watch for the future.

AEROSPATIAL is a masterclass in transformation and memory, beautifully dissecting the friction between 1960s space-age optimism and our current reality. The show unfolded like a cinematic triptych across three distinct chapters. It opened with “The Dream,” channelling retrofuturist nostalgia through gorgeous A-line and trapeze silhouettes bathed in warm, sunset-toned light. This quickly shifted into “The Collision,” a harsher reality where sharp, cold lighting illuminated armour-like structural elements crafted from actual car parts. Finally, “Reconstruction” brought the narrative full circle, transforming those heavy automotive components into light, fluid, wearable pieces that stepped back into a hopeful, warm glow.

What makes SELVA HUYGENS so incredibly vital right now is their radical, uncompromising commitment to circular design. Over 90% of the materials in this collection are upcycled, recycled, or deadstock. The design duo literally went on a performative “collection walk” across Berlin to gather discarded objects, combining them with premium deadstock textiles from Beglarian Fabrics. Taking a cue from Tarkovsky’s sci-fi masterpiece Solaris, which notes that we don’t need other worlds, we need mirrors, the collection acts as a mirror to our own collective future, asking what pieces of yesterday’s optimism we can still believe in.
Capturing the frantic, avant-garde energy of the presentation, photographer Thilo Wilcke was on hand to document the collection from the inside out. His backstage photos beautifully highlight the raw juxtaposition of automotive hardware against delicate textiles, capturing the pure grit and refined craftsmanship that make SELVA HUYGENS an absolute standout of the season. Keep your eyes on them—this is only the beginning.
