Beautiful Decay by David Pissarra

David Pissarra is a young art and concept photographer from Lisbon, Portugal, currently studying photography at Ar.Co – Centre for Art and Visual Communication. He likes to materialize the ideas that often come to his head, ideas which he has difficulty communicating with words. Photography enables him to do this through an image – a photograph. For KALTBLUT  he has created a series of images shot in an abandoned restaurant, at night, paralleling human and urban decay.

I like to play with reality, exaggerating it. I  am also fascinated by how differently time goes through places and people.  And I am absolutely fascinated by human bodies. These passions live in my subconscious and when the image is formed in my head, I know I have to make a picture.

The following photographs of my dear friend Alexandre Serrano were taken at the beach and at an abandoned restaurant here in Lisbon. Here you can witness the intersections between the decay of bodies and ruins. Decay can be a beautiful thing!
