The Berlin Music Video Awards reveals its full list of nominees for the 12th edition! Scheduled to take place from June 12th to 14th, 2024, at Club Gretchen in Berlin, this international event celebrates the grind and talent behind the making of music videos, attracting both established and up-and-coming artists from around the globe. Most of the talents involved in this year’s nominated videos have confirmed their attendance, a great networking value to be explored.
Independent and unleashed!
The founder of the festival, Aviel Silook, assures us that the event is still very much international, independent, and unleashed. Just like in the previous years, the diversity, the open-minded and accepting atmosphere will be at the centre of every festivity. A wide spectrum of video selections, many music genres, languages, and topics will be explored. And a sweet team will be there to welcome the guests.
They keep it clean!
The Best Art Director category is one category that rewards videos with strong aesthetics: some manifest in the makeup, some with the set design, and some with the outfits. The colour matches and scenery perfection distinguishes this category from the others.
This year we can find some known names among the nominees like Megan Thee Stallion, Halsey, and TKay. But as you know, in the Berlin Music Video Awards anything is possible and unknown names also get to win each year. The selection this year is very diverse! Nominees from Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, and North America are all there.

In the jury panel for this category, we can find a new name, Julija Fricsone-Gavriss who was involved in the past several times as a nominee and was part of the team in a music video that won as well. The category will be screened on the opening day of the festival, the 12th of June.
Oh and don’t forget! Dress up according to the dress code! On the 13th of June (The Experimental Culture Day), people will be expected to come in Freaky, Kinky and bizarre outfits. Then at the main event on the 14th of June, stylish and elegant looks will be all over the place (red-carpet-style). For those of you who come to grab attention or network, it is highly recommended to correspond with the advised looks.
Amongst this year’s BMVA nominees in other categories, you will find enticing videos of known artists like Tame Impala, Justice, Travis Scott, and The Hives. But don’t let the big names fool you, the vast majority of the videos presented are still from skillful musicians that you’ve never heard of.
Traditionally, the festival gives exposure and invites some of the nominees to perform and this year among the performing nominees you can see up-and-coming artists like Thunder Bae, Supermodel, and Gennre who are nominated for the Best Song category. Among the performers and DJs from other categories, we have Dalton John, Ljung, Siie, and many more who will be announced in the coming days.
The Berlin Music Video Awards takes pride in discovering promising artists before they become famous. Artists like The Blaze or Little Big had one of their first shows ever at the awards before they broke through.
In addition to the Awards and the live shows, other activities are expected to take place, including an AI Conference, networking activities, and an after-party at the famous KitKat Club (Psycho) on the 13th of June.
“Sora” and the AI effect on music videos will be discussed thoroughly in the AI conference on the 13th of June, led by one of the most prominent names in the scene, Yonatan Dor. The conference will be part of the Experimental Culture Day, dedicated to independent artists and abstract art.
The jury panel for this year will include over 30 members. New names we can find on the list are the directors Hinrich Pflug, and Justin Izumi, The Cinematographer Kaspar Hornikel, and Art directoress Julija Fricsone-Gavriss. Some of the jury members won an award or have been nominated themselves at the Berlin Music Video Awards in the past. One irrefutable new name is Robert Royal, whose video has also been nominated in the Most Trashy category. Robert is an award-winning gay porn actor and visual artist, who has had hands in some very dirty bits.
