Following the critically acclaimed release of her debut album, Í Ævir (“Forever”), Faroese artist Elinborg unveils her new single, “Blood,” via Embassy of Music. “Blood” serves as the eagerly awaited English rendition of the album’s standout track, “Blóð.” This significant transition into English enables Elinborg’s expanding international audience to fully engage with the deeply personal essence of her songwriting, which has primarily been delivered in her native Faroese.
In her own words about the single, Elinborg shares, “I chose to release an English version of my song ‘Blood’ not only because it holds a very special place in my heart, but also because I wanted to explore how my sound might change when I switch languages. I’ve always been intrigued by different languages, and even though Faroese has a special place in my heart—and I’ll absolutely continue writing in it—I think it’s important to grow and evolve as an artist. That’s why I wanted to try releasing English versions as well: to reach a more international audience, but also to add new colors to my artistic world.”
Released through Embassy of Music (home to iconic artists like Björk, Moby, and Ásgeir), Í Ævir navigates through emotional terrains characterised by longing, solitude, and connection. Elinborg’s sonic palette merges ambient pop, electronic minimalism, and Nordic folk, beautifully capturing the rugged landscapes of the Faroe Islands. The album’s hallmark cinematic production, ethereal synths, and emotive vocal delivery are well represented in its focus track, “Í Ævir,” which Elinborg describes as “about searching for someone who feels impossibly far away. Even when you try to reach them, they slip through your hands — like water.”
Building upon the sound she crafted with her recent dark wave releases, Elinborg solidifies her status as one of the most distinctive voices emerging from the Nordic music scene. Her unique artistry lies in her poetic lyricism, bridging ancient themes with contemporary soundscapes, and transporting a rare language into a futuristic musical realm.
