BONDY – Neverend

#BerlinFashionWeek – PLATTE.Berlin presents Neverend the new collection by BONDY. “This collection stems from my childhood experiences as the world changed from analog to digital. As a lover of tactile materials and make-believe scenarios, I never understood how the computer could cast such a spell over all of my schoolmates, and I even went so far as to make my best friend promise to never use a computer for the rest of her life. I keep a close connection to the memories of my analog upbringing, which forms the basis of the NEVEREND collection.”

BONDY’S NEVEREND explores the middle-ground between the analog real and the digital unreal. The collection blends the distinctive sensibilities found in BONDY’s work – the mixture of high concepts and childlike wonderment, boutique craftsmanship, and imaginative color schemes – with unique 3D designs that find their way into the pieces.

NEVEREND follows the story of a lone frog which has outlived humanity, and carries with it artifacts of a bygone human race on its skin. The frog raises the questions: How will humankind leave behind relics of their time on Earth? Can there be digital antiques? And will the remnants we leave behind be a true representation of the human experience?

The collection sees BONDY collaborating with 3D artists Tabitha Swanson and Jonas Wolff to bridge the divide between handmade pieces and digital design. Dense with bright pastels suggestive of the
designers’ late 90’s/early 2000’s childhood, NEVEREND is a future-dream coated with nostalgia.

Inspired by the designer’s childhood, NEVEREND employs a throwback aesthetic from the turn of the
century, with shiny satin, tulle, rhinestones, metal and liquid-esque and inflatable pvc. Constructed
around a bright pastel color scheme, the collection is dense with lilac, pistachio, and clinical white. Fluo pink and earthy tones such as chocolate brown accent the pieces, embodying a child’s curiosity of the oncoming digital revolution.

“For our ready-to-wear collection, we considered which species would out-survive humanity, and
immediately amphibians came to mind. The survivor in the world of NEVEREND is a curious frog. This character, designed by the 3D artist Tabitha Swanson, is our window into the post-human environment of the collection. Crouched on a little stone, safely hidden under a frosty glass arch, our frog has remnants of life scribbled all over its skin: flowers, a heart and tinted nails.
The abstract scribble of BONDY that the 3D artist Jonas Wolff had designed for our previous collection DREY_MA is the starting point for our very first jewellery collection.”
