Book Club #11: The Core

ROKOVOY presents IBIZA INK PETER. Photographers Amanda Akiyama and Emma TheCatt aka ROKOVOY present their latest project featuring Taiwanese tattoo artist Ibiza Ink Peter. A series of portraits raw and undone, to the core, to be followed by several sessions that will be growing into a book before long.

“We met Peter on instagram some time ago and got to know each other better on Facebook. He wanted to meet up and we decided to have him stay with us for a few days. When we picked him up his freshly tattooed thigh had swollen to epic proportions and he had a temperature for a while. He had to be on painkillers all the time but this didn’t stop him from being so crazy, like the night he ended up bleeding.

We started taking pictures of him because he is such an inspiring person, we can connect with so well, even if we all have to use google translate sometimes. Our tastes and interests are so similar. He is really creative, uninhibited, drinks beer instead of water and filling every tiny free spot of his skin with ink- he is the most genuinely tattoo obsessed person we’ve ever met with some really good artwork on his body. We asked him to teach us, which he did; in the end he asked us to hand tattoo our names on his arms.”
