The graphic novel, we used to move through the city like doves in the wind, has just been published by Women’s Studio Workshop as part of 2020 Right Now! Artist’s Publication Production Grant, funded by the New York State Council on the Arts and the Windgate Foundation.

This projectdelves into my personal experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Taking directly from journal entries, text messages, voice notes, and FaceTime conversations, it poetically documents and explores displacement, confinement, loneliness, and the importance of love as a symbol of hope in the middle of chaos.

Andrés Hernández is a self-taught queer Mexican artist currently based in the border city of Tijuana, Baja California. Their work aims to document and explore personal experiences centred around intimacy and vulnerability. They have been featured in a number of publications, such as Kaltblut, Pineapple, and Inverosímil.
