Book Launch! Holes by Vincent Wechselberger

Over the span of two days at Whole Festival 2022 Vincent Wechselberger photographed 70 buttholes. Their first zine titled “HOLES” is a collection of many different buttholes with insights from their owners on their complex relationship with our most intimate and stigmatized orifice.

The Berlin launch event will take place at Eisenherz Book Store on 11 May from 6-9 pm.

Vincent Wechselberger, born in 1998 in Austria, is a portrait and documentary photographer based in Berlin, Germany. Their photography highlights people from marginalised communities, particularly from the queer community, and the intersection of race, gender, class and queerness.

As part of the queer community in Berlin, Wechselberger’s subjects are often friends. In intimate settings, they capture moments of joy, closeness, grief and rapture to give an insider perspective of queer life and foster more tolerance and inclusivity.

“I’ve been insecure about my body hair for a few years, especially around my hole. Tired of constant razor burn, I decided to start the process of laser removal.

Face down, cheeks spread in a sterile Berlin salon, I waited for Susanne to start the beautification. Thirty seconds and four laser flashes later it was done. As we finished the eighth treatment, Susanne examined my hole and complemented its smoothness. I proudly showed my friends.

I know it’s silly that I go through so much effort to change this part of myself to please others. Maybe eventually, I’ll accept my hole as it is — just a hole and uniquely my own.”
