Carolina Raquel – On Kinaesthetics

MODALISBOA COMUNIDADE – Workstation! “On Kinaesthetics” is an ongoing research project on everyday activities, gestures and objects using standard mass-produced second-hand garments (slip dress, jeans, shirt, t-shirt, suit, high- heel shoes) found in London, Lisbon, Florence flea markets. The surface and shape of these pieces were transformed with wax, foam and velcro, sensorial materials conventionally not used in textiles.

This visual study speaks about the interaction between the body, the garments and the environment within – a quest to understand comfort zones, spatial and extrasensory perception embracing the performative visual aspect of daily activities’ banality and repetitiveness.
