G-STAR announces a groundbreaking collaboration with Japanese fashion powerhouse FACETASM. This exclusive capsule collection masterfully intertwines G-STAR’s rich heritage with the creativity and signature deconstruction of FACETASM.

Hiromichi Ochiai, the visionary founder and designer of FACETASM, drew deep inspiration from G-STAR’s extensive archives, rich with iconic references ranging from NASA space suits to military uniforms. Each piece in this collection is a unique reinterpretation through Hiromichi’s innovative lens, meticulously crafted by G-STAR.

“Entering the archive was awe-inspiring, with a colossal collection of garments from various genres and eras. For someone in the fashion industry, it was like heaven. The experience was profoundly moving and fulfilling. The techniques and pieces I observed underscored G-STAR’s serious commitment to fashion,” says Hiromichi Ochiai.

The capsule collection features eight stunning styles, each rendered in premium Italian denim. Highlights include the Space Track Jacket and Pants, echoing vintage NASA jackets, and the Apollo Jacket, which draws inspiration from G-STAR’s archival spacesuits. The tops and bottoms are complemented by sleek black and white t-shirts.

FACETASM, established by Hiromichi Ochiai, is celebrated for its bold, avant-garde approach that fuses Japanese streetwear with high fashion. Known for deconstructed silhouettes, experimental layering, and dynamic textures, FACETASM encapsulates Tokyo’s vibrant urban culture, standing out on the global fashion stage with a unique, rebellious aesthetic.

Shot by Masakado Nishibayashi at the Misono Universe building in Osaka, Japan, the campaign captures the essence of this dynamic collaboration. The collection launches on October 5, 2024, at G-STAR X FACETASM pop-up events at Nubian in Tokyo and Osaka. It will subsequently be available worldwide at select G-STAR and FACETASM stores, and through exclusive retail partners.

The campaign video, created in collaboration with COSMIC LAB, an avant-garde audio-visual laboratory directed by C.O.L.O., pushes the boundaries between the conscious and the unconscious. COSMIC LAB explores the fusion of art and technology where the line between the physical and virtual disappears, embodying the theme of post-XR (expanded reality). Inspired by the G-STAR x FACETASM collection, the video delves into uncharted realms like space and the ocean’s depths.
