Berlin-based DJ, producer, and vocalist DJ Fuckoff shares her top 5 tracks that have shaped her as an artist. “These are all throwbacks to when I first started digging for music & working on my own productions,” she explains. “Tracks that continue to inspire me and shape the ever-evolving sound of DJ Fuckoff in the land of Fucktopia.”
Building on the immersive universe of her debut album, Fucktopia (2023), DJ Fuckoff’s latest EP, Fucktopia: Character Chronicles, deepens the narrative with a cast of audacious characters like Nyx Fuckora, Vera Void, Zara Blaze, Kai Fuckora, and Cosmo. Each track offers a sonic exploration through intricate soundscapes, melding techno, dub, drum ‘n’ bass, juke, and more, underscored by her signature raw intensity.
Originally from New Zealand and now based in Berlin, DJ Fuckoff draws inspiration from bush doofs, old-school UK rave, and underground hip-hop to shape her genre-fluid sound. Known for her ferocious energy on stage and innovative production style, she has quickly secured her place in the global dance music scene, making waves through breakout live streams during the lockdown and notable appearances on Boiler Room and Rinse FM.
A relentless advocate for FLINTA* representation and safer dancefloors, DJ Fuckoff empowers those around her. Her residency at Body Language in Berlin and collaborations with Femme Bass Mafia showcase her commitment to reshaping the culture for femme-identifying ravers and artists.
Juicy J – Soldiers from the Northside
“The first track that got me into producing on Fruity Loops at around 16/17. Was listening to a lot of Three Six Mafia at the time and loved how blasted the 808s were. Also all the samples in these old three six tracks are golden, always sparked an idea for something I wanted to produce.”
Yeastie Girlz – You Suck
“OG feminist punk rap/slam poetry from the late 80s. Yeastie Girlz are sooooo boss, the first time I heard them was through this project Ovary Action which has tracks on it like “Sperm Brain”, “Fuck Yourself” and “Orgasm Addict”. They got together as a band around 1987 with the idea to fight the sexism & misogyny in the band scene. This heavily inspired a lot of tracks I’ve written with similar themes and motives. BIG shout outs to them and their unapologetic bars!”
Larry Heard Presents Mr. White – The Sun Can’t Compare
“One of my favourite tracks ever ever to this day. The lyrics/vocals, acid 303 line, synth and the CLAP. This clap always got me so good. Is just a masterpiece & one track I’ll always come back to in every mood. Thank you Larry Heard x”
Push – Universal Nation
“Where it all began. My dad must have showed me this track when I was a little girl and it set the tone for me for the kind of music I wanted to listen to. A ’98 trance classic that really takes the mind on a journey, a feeling I’ve also wanted to invoke with my own music stirring up all kinds of emotions and feelings. Definitely a track on repeat in Fucktopia.”
Squarepusher – Planetarium
“Wowwww yes the first time I listened to this I was sent to another reality fr. Insane riffs, insane breaks & outer earth, outer space in another dimension type beats. Squarepusher has always hardcore broken genre boundaries and really inspires me with his use of breaks in tracks and his creative style of composition. I will always love and be inspired by this one. The true essence of the Fucktopic sound.”
